WordClouds, a word cloud creator

Word cloud creators

Description: WordClouds is an online tool for generating word clouds from text. Users can input text or upload a document into WordCloud's interface, customise various aspects of the word cloud, such as fonts, colours, shape, and size, and create visually appealing word cloud images. WordClouds can also generate clickable word clouds with links, or image maps, that can later be saved as images and shared online. WordClouds is free to use and does not require users to sign up for an account. It is developed by Zygomatic, which also operates Toony Tool.

Evaluation: WordClouds is a useful and easy-to-use tool to visualise text or highlight keywords and phrases. It can help analysing text and identifying important words, being useful for vocabulary acquisition. Teachers can also employ WordClouds to create visually appealing content for presentations or blog entries, or underline the most relevant words of a text, poem, or a song and use it to spark a classroom discussion. WordClouds is also quite versatile since it supports different languages, shapes, colours, and fonts.

Cost: Free.
