Inventory of ICT tools

Welcome to the Inventory of freely available online tools, developed within the framework of the ICT REV project of the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML). Weebly, an easy-to-use website builder

Website/app creators

Description: Weebly is a website builder platform that allows users to design and customise their websites through a drag-and-drop interface without needing to write code. To access and edit a website, users need an account and a password. Weebly offers a limited free version. It was developed by David Rusenko, Chris Fanini, and Dan Veltri in 2006 and acquired by Square Inc. in 2018.

Evaluation: Weebly is an easy-to-use alternative to creating websites without advanced IT skills. Weebly websites can be highly engaging given the possibility to insert images, videos, and other file types. Interestingly, Weebly allows for collaborative work.

Cost: Free limited version with registration + paid premium plans.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Medium. Square, Weebly’s developer collects personal information such as financial, tax, and identity information for providing its services, preventing fraud, and complying with legal obligations. It shares some data with service providers, third-party analytics services, advertising partners, affiliates, and law enforcement agencies. Square has different security measures in place, including administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. It acknowledges users’ rights to access, delete, and correct personal information, as well as opt out of targeted advertising. Square implicitly states compliance with the GDPR. See more here.
