Kukarella, an AI-powered text-to-speech tool

Audio recordingTranslation toolsAI text processing & speech

Description: Kukarella is an all-in-one AI platform for voiceover, transcription, and translation, primarily offering an advanced Text-to-Speech (TTS) tool. It provides users with instant access to many AI voices (in the free version) across 100+ languages and dialects. Users type or paste text into the editor, select a voice and language, and can convert the text into natural-sounding speech. Other features include Dialogues AI (creating multi-speaker conversations), or voice effects (pitch, volume, speed, pauses, whispers). It also provides audio/video transcription and image/video generation features through AI. Kukarella offers a limited free plan of 10000 characters of converted text-to-speech, 10 minutes of transcription, and 8 visuals. While it can be used without an account, users are required to log in to save their progress.

Evaluation: Kukarella is a versatile and user-friendly tool that can save educators considerable time when producing voiceovers for e-learning modules, videos, or presentations. Its interface is intuitive and quick to learn, and it offers a wide range of voices and languages suitable for educational content creation. However, in practice the audio quality can sometimes sound somewhat synthetic, especially in longer recordings or more expressive passages, and the free plan is rather limited both in the number of available voices and in the usage credits provided. Overall, it is a convenient option for simple projects or quick voiceovers, though it may not fully meet the needs of users seeking more natural or professionally polished output.

Cost: Free + paid plans available.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Medium/high. Kukarella collects two types of personal information provided when creating an account (name, email address, location data, preferences, payment details when applicable) and usage and device information (IP address, browser type, device information, interaction metrics). This is used for operational, communication, and analytical purposes. Kukarella shares user data with trusted service providers (Stripe for payment processes, and Google Cloud / Firebase for data hosting) for analytical and operational purposes, and when legally required. It has industry-standard security measures in place such as encryption, access controls, and security assessments to protect data, which is deleted once it is not necessary for use any longer, although exact retention periods are not stated. User data is transferred to Kukarella’s operational locations in Canada, yet in accordance with EU GDPR. The tool is intended for users over 16 years old. Kukarella acknowledges users’ rights to access, correct, delete or restrict their data. It complies with the GDPR. See more here (scroll down for the privacy policy).
