Action research communities for language teachers

The central aim is to create learning communities for action research. Thus, at the project workshop in November 2016 in Graz, school and university teachers came together to exchange on their action research practices and to become involved further. The core results of the workshop were the eleven projects developed by the participants.

Overview

Action Research Communities for language teachers is a project run within the ECML-Programme 2016-19 “Languages at the heart of learning”.

ARC activities were based upon the conviction that teachers are at the heart of the quality process in the language learning classroom and we set out to support teachers in European classrooms using action research as an essential tool for the development of reflective classroom practice highlighting ways in which teachers can enhance their self-confidence and professionalism.

The results of the project are organised in the following sections:

·      Getting into action research

o   The ARC spiral

·      Resources and activities

o   A checklist for action research

o   A template for a 2-3 day workshop on action research for teachers of languages

o   A dialogue sheet to be used during workshops or other action research activities

·      Success stories

o   Reports compiled by participants of ARC workshops
