WordPress is an open-source website and blog creator. It provides users with an interface where they can build and customise their websites using themes, plugins, and widgets. Users can choose between WordPress.com, which is a hosted platform with managed services and a free limited version, or WordPress.org, which is a completely free self-hosted platform where users have more control over their websites, yet it requires more advanced IT skills. WordPress was initially released in 2003 by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little. Evaluation: WordPress is a renowned and practical web creator. Teachers can use it to put together a teaching website, which can be set as private and shared through a URL. Although WordPress’s interface is quite intuitive, it still requires some IT skills, especially for WordPress.org.

Cost: Free with registration for WordPress.org; free limited version with registration + paid premium plans for WordPress.com.
