ClassDojo, a teaching, managing, and communication tool for schools

Course managementMarking and feedback

Description: ClassDojo is a platform designed to facilitate communication, engagement, and classroom management between teachers, students, and parents. It provides a virtual space where teachers can assign tasks, send reminders, display schedules, give feedback, track student progress, and more, while students can upload their work. Parents can stay updated on their child's progress through notifications and messages from teachers. For classroom settings, ClassDojo provides useful functionalities such as playing background music, arranging groups and even measuring classroom noise. The platform also offers instant translation of messages in more than 30 languages. ClassDojo is available for free and does not require an account to access basic features, although signing up offers additional benefits and customisation options. It is available in browser and app forms. ClassDojo was developed by Sam Chaudhary and Liam Don.

Evaluation: ClassDojo is a valuable tool for classroom management and communication between all stakeholders involved in the teaching and learning process. For teachers, it can be a time-saving platform that helps manage virtually any task. Unfortunately, it seems to target exclusively early-age education, since adolescents might feel infantilised using an app that rewards positive behaviour, contains colourful funny characters -or “monsters”-, and allows guardians/parents to be so easily in touch with their teachers. The interface is intuitive and the app can be used in different languages.

Cost: Free with registration for teachers.
