Mindomo

Principal function(s): Marking and feedbackPoster/infographic creators

Mindomo is a tool for drawing mind maps and creating organigrams, which allows editing and collaborating online. It also facilitates transforming the maps into dynamic presentations (similar to Prezi) and creating and sharing assignments with students. Evaluation: Mindomo is a user-friendly tool with an intuitive interface. The free version allows keeping up to just 3 maps at the same time, hence limiting its usefulness.

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... View details
