Discord

Principal function(s): Virtual ExchangeVideo conferencing

Discord is an open-source conferencing tool that allows users to communicate with their friends and communities on their own server or through direct messaging. The free version permits users to create one server for free. Using this server the host can set permissions for the participants as well as create separate channels where they can communicate with one another. By using this tol, users can also stream (limit of 10 viewers), share their screens, and listen to music with the help of a bot. Members can be tagged, so they don’t miss information that is directed toward them. Another option for saving information is pins which are limited to 50 per channel in a server. Evaluation: With its multiple functions, it is an excellent way for bigger groups to discuss and collaborate on projects or other tasks. It could be used, for example, by a teacher and a group of students, or a group of students or teachers who need to work and /or share information together.
