Principal function(s): BookmarkingFlashcard creators

An e-reader and browser extension created specifically for language learning. It allows importing books, articles, and webpages, translating and saving new words, and memorising them later. It can be added as a browser extension or just as a bookmark and directly import content from the web. It also schedules learning and allows spending the most time on words that users find more challenging. Evaluation: ReadLang uses Google Translate to translate words and phrases instantly on their original site when clicking on them. One can also import the article over to Readlang. When one does that and then clicks on words, the program saves the words in a database so that one can retrieve them later. ReadLange even creates a set of flashcards to practice with, and one can even upload the flashcards to Anki. Users can upload their own PDF or epub files and get them translated as well.

Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... Plus d'info
