Description: Pixton is a web-based tool for creating comics, graphic novels, and storyboards. They can also customise characters, backgrounds, and props through a simple drag-and-drop interface. For example, they can add speech bubbles and change characters’ facial expressions, poses and outfits. Pixton offers both free and paid versions. Signing up for an account either as an educator or a student is required to use Pixton. Pixton was developed by Pixton Comics Inc.
Evaluation: Pixton is a useful tool for educators and teachers. A possible assignment using Pixton could involve having students create their comics and thereby improve their writing and storytelling skills. Creating a comic or storyboard on Pixton takes some time but could be a motivating task for students. In “Educator” mode, Pixton proposes worthwhile class activities. Average IT skills required.
