Google Alerts

Allows users to monitor contents of interest from Google. Users are informed via email. All you need to do is to make queries and set alerts, and Google will send you relevant information. Alerts can be set up by frequency of delivery and can be filtered by language and country of origin. A Google account is required.

Evaluation: An efficient data collecting tool, which allows users to stay up-to-date with topics of interest. Very simple to use, with very basic IT skills required for the use of Google Alerts. Why don’t you have your students set up an alert on a topic that they feel passionate about and that they can create a project on?

Cost: Free with registration
