Principal function(s): Blogging
Blogger is a web-based blogging platform. It allows users to publish and share their thoughts, opinions, and content online through personalised blog websites. Users can create posts, upload media, customise the design and layout of their blogs, and interact with their audience through comments and others. Blogger was developed by Pyra Labs and later acquired by Google. It is a free platform, and users can sign up for an account using their Google credentials or create a new account specifically for Blogger.
Evaluation: Blogger is a valuable and versatile tool for learners and teachers as it provides a platform for creating and sharing educational content in various formats. It can bolster the writing and argumentation skills of learners and provide them with a medium to communicate with one another. As with any other blogging tool, interaction is possible through the commenting function, which makes it fitting for asynchronised group work and discussions. Access to a Blogger channel or post can be configured from public to private or unlisted (accessible only through a URL). Basic IT skills are a prerequisite for using Blogger.
