EUSurvey, a secure, multilingual survey tool of the European Commission

Poll and survey creatorsQuiz/exercise makers

Description: EUSurvey is the European Commission's official online platform for managing surveys and public consultations. It is completely free and it allows users to build complex forms including various question types – such as multiple choice, matrix, and free text – alongside advanced conditional logic and multimedia elements. EUSurvey offers four different formats: Standard Survey, Quiz, Self-Assessment and Online Delphi. Survey authors require an "EU Login" account for use, which takes some time but is very secure; however, respondents can participate anonymously or as guests. The platform supports the 24 official EU languages and is hosted on secure European Commission servers, ensuring the highest level of data protection.

Evaluation: EUSurvey is a reliable and privacy-friendly tool for data collection that can be used by teachers, educators and researchers. Its primary advantage is its multilingual support and total compliance with EU security standards. While the interface is functional rather than "gamified," the "Quiz" mode enables automated scoring and feedback, making it an effective resource for formal assessments and student self-evaluation. A potential disadvantage is the mandatory "EU Login" to create surveys, which takes some time to set up, but this is reasonable considering the advantages it offers in terms of security and respect for privacy. It has a similar function to Survey Monkey, without the limitation of the basic 10-questions only in the free version.

Cost: Free.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Very high. EUSurvey does not require respondents to sign up or have an account to participate in surveys, ensuring that no personal information is tracked or collected by default during participation. However, it obliges form creators to use EU login and set up a two-step verification method, yet little personal information (name, surname and email) is needed for that. EUSurvey uses only strictly necessary first-party session cookies to remain operational and does not employ third-party tracking technologies like Google Analytics or marketing cookies. Still, it employs Europa Analytics for analytical purposes yet this platform is entirely under EU control. All submitted data is stored on the European Commission's secure infrastructure and is processed in strict accordance with the GDPR. See more here.
