Welcome to the Inventory of freely available online tools, developed within the framework of the ICT REV project of the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML). Puzzlemaker, a puzzle and game maker

Crossword puzzle creators

Description: Puzzlemaker is an online tool for creating puzzles and educational games. Users can generate crossword puzzles, word searches, mazes, and more using customisable parameters such as word lists and difficulty levels. Puzzlemaker was developed by Discovery Education and is available for free on its website without requiring sign-up.

Evaluation: Puzzlemaker is a simple and effective puzzle generator. It offers a variety of puzzles and educational games to create, helping teachers and students find something adjusted to their needs. Puzzlemaker’s only drawback is the need to download puzzles immediately so as not to lose them.

Cost: Free.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Medium. Puzzlemaker can be used without setting up an account and thus without providing user information. However, it collects various cookies and other types of data and shares this information with third parties for operational purposes, yet refraining from selling it. Puzzlemaker also displays advertisements on its website. It has reasonable security measures in place and acknowledges users’ rights to access, modify, and delete data. Puzzlemaker observes the GDPR.
