Welcome to the Inventory of freely available online tools, developed within the framework of the ICT REV project of the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML). EclipseCrossword, a crossword puzzle creator

Crossword puzzle creators

Description: EclipseCrossword tool to create crossword puzzles. Users can input words and clues to automatically generate a crossword puzzle grid. It is available for free but requires installation. EclipseCrossword was developed by Green Eclipse Software.

Evaluation: EclipseCrossword is an easy-to-use tool with clear instructions and a simple interface. It also has a comprehensive "Help" link. Crosswords can be created quickly and easily and students can access them directly via web browser. It can be used for educational or recreational purposes, enhancing linguistic skills such as vocabulary and problem-solving. It is only available for Microsoft.

Cost: Free with installation.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Medium/high. EclipseCrossword collects and stores data shared by users. It also employs cookies to operate the service, but only for necessary purposes, such as remembering users’ settings, or learning how people use the service in order to improve it. It does not use cookies to track users outside of their services. EclipseCrossword does not share personal information with anyone unless required by law. EclipseCrossword is operated by Green Eclipse in the State of Washington, United States, so regional laws apply. EclipseCrossword does not state compliance with the GDPR. See more here.
