Welcome to the Inventory of freely available online tools, developed within the framework of the ICT REV project of the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML). Factile, a jeopardy-style game creator

Game apps

Description: Factile is a web-based tool for creating and playing jeopardy-style quiz games. Users can either create their own quiz boards with questions and categories, or pick one from the thousands of pre-made game templates. Factile can be played by individuals or whole teams/classes. It is available in more than 5 languages. Factile’s offers a limited free mode that allows creating jeopardy-style games, with other features available only in the paid-for version. Existing games can be accessed with an account, but signing up is needed to create new ones.

Evaluation: Factile is a valuable tool that can be easily integrated into any subject or course curriculum. It can make classes more engaging and fun, while helping teachers assess students' understanding of previous and new topics. Factile can also help improve linguistic skills such as vocabulary retention, comprehension, and critical thinking. It is user-friendly and time-efficient, especially if using the existing templates on the website.

Cost: Free limited version + paid plans available.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Medium. Factile collects the minimum amount of data necessary to provide its service and improve it, among which email addresses, passwords, and payment information. Data is stored in the US. It uses Google Analytics to analyse cookies but does not allow advertisements on its website. It mentions various security measures, including regular website scans for vulnerabilities, the use of SSL certificates, firewalls, and malware scanning. Facticle complies with the COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act) but does not mention the GDPR. See more here.
