EdWordle, a word cloud creator based on Wordle

Word cloud creators

Description: EdWordle is a tool for creating and editing word clouds based on Wordle technology. The initial word clouds are generated by entering words or a text. Users can then re-font, re-colour, resize, move, rotate, add, and delete words to customise their word clouds. Edwordle is free to play and does not require signing up or having an account.

Evaluation: EdWordle is an easy-to-use, practical, and rich word cloud creator. It has a straightforward and intuitive interface and contains features to modify word clouds regarding their layout, size, colour, font, and more. One of Edwordle’s main benefits is that it allows a “neighbourhood-preserving” editing process, which keeps inserted words at predictable and close locations during and after the editing process.

Cost: Free.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Medium. Edwordle's website gathers personal data for those registered in the site, derivative data collected automatically such as browser or IP information, and data from social networks, which is mainly used for operational purposes but also marketing. It shares data with third parties to run the platform. Edwordle provides little information about data security and retention. It acknowledges users’ rights to access, rectify, erase, and object to the processing of personal data. Edwordle does not state compliance with the GDPR. See more here.
