Pixton, a comic, graphic novel and storyboard creator

Story creators

Description: Pixton is a web-based tool for creating comics, graphic novels, and storyboards. Users can customise characters, backgrounds, and props on Pixton through a simple drag-and-drop interface. For example, they can add speech bubbles and change characters’ facial expressions, poses, and outfits. Pixton offers a limited free version and requires educators to have an account for use, while students can access the platform through a session-specific code.

Evaluation: Pixton is a useful tool for educators and teachers. A possible assignment using Pixton could be having students create their comics and thereby improve their writing and storytelling skills. Creating a comic or storyboard on Pixton takes some time but could be a motivating task for students. In “Educator” mode, Pixton proposes worthwhile class activities.

Cost: Free with registration + paid plans available.
