Spotify for Creators, an all-in-one podcasting tool

Description: Spotify for Creators is a podcast creation and edition platform owned by Spotify. Users can upload audio recordings to Spotify for Creators or record them straight away. While Spotify for Creators provides podcast creators with free hosting and publishing services, it monetises podcast listens.

Evaluation: Spotify for Creators can be a valuable tool to engage students with a specific subject. A possible activity could be creating a class podcast or having students design together a podcast series in a specific language. The “Record With Friends” option allows users to create a podcast with up to five remote guests on their mobile devices, which could be a suitable option for group speaking activities. It is free to use and has many useful integrated functions. For podcasts less than 1 hour long, users can transcribe their recordings, which could be especially useful for learners at basic levels.

Respect for privacy Privacy evaluations indicate how a tool handles personal data collection, storage, and sharing, including GDPR compliance and security measures, among others. The ICT-REV team provides them for informational purposes, reflecting our best understanding at the time of review, but assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of these evaluations and encourages users to conduct their own assessments: Medium. Spotify for Podcasters collects personal information including user data (name, email, date of birth, country), usage data (actions within the service, content creation), and additional data voluntarily provided by users. This information is used for many purposes, including marketing and security. User data is stored securely with measures such as pseudonymisation and encryption. Spotify for Podcasters shares user data with service providers, payment partners, marketing partners, law enforcement, and in certain business transactions. It complies with data protection laws like the GDPR, acknowledging users’ rights to access, rectify, erase, and restrict their data. See more here.
