Howjsay

Principal function(s): Autonomous learningIndividual workPronunciationWebsite/other users supply

Howjsay is an online pronunciation dictionary that provides audio recordings of words in English and other languages. Users can enter a word into the search bar on the Howjsay website, and the tool will display the word along with an audio recording of its pronunciation. In addition, there are two links under every entry, one leading to a Google Search that provides its definition, and another one leading to Google Translate. Howjsay currently offers more than 170k word pronunciations. It is free to use and does not require signing up. Evaluation: Howjsay is a valuable and straightforward tool that can be used by language learners, teachers, linguists, and anyone else interested in improving their pronunciation skills or learning how to pronounce specific words. As a downside, some advertisements on its interface make Howjsay rather tedious to use.

Cost: Free.
