Description: Beegup is a digital platform designed to support language learning and intercultural exchange for students aged 11 and up. It aims to promote real-world language practice through virtual language exchanges between student pen pals. It also provides multimedia news articles, which can be sorted by language and topic, and the possibility to create assignments with them. It has two different interfaces: one for teachers and one for students, with different functionalities. It provides users with three spaces: home (a feed with news articles and possible educational profiles to connect with), workspace (for classroom management, where teachers can set assignments on educational resources featured on Beegup, and students can access them), and community (to establish a pen pal network). Backed by pedagogical research highlighting the effectiveness of oral communication in language acquisition, Beegup enables teachers and students to build and maintain a network of correspondents throughout their schooling.
