Whiteboard.fi

Principal function(s): Digital whiteboards

Whiteboard.fi is a free online whiteboard tool for teachers to engage with their students both in the classroom or during a remote class. Each student with the code to joi receives a whiteboard where they can draw, write text or make notations. The teacher is able to see all of the students' whiteboards in real time and follow their progress. Students only see the teacher's whiteboard. Evaluation: Whiteboard.fi has a very simple interface and is a very easy tool to connect with students and make classes more interactive. It is especially suitable for extended remote learning. Users supply the content. One drawback is that the free version does not permit saving or reusing whiteboards or inserting PDFs.

High. Whiteboard.fi collects various personal information such as user names, email addresses, teaching subjects, IP addresses, and images of what is drawn on the whiteboards. The primary purpose of collecting this information is to run Whiteboard.fi. It employs the services of third-party service providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Upcloud to assist in providing access to the site. It also uses functional cookies necessary for the website to function. Importantly, student data that is created at the service without a student account, is removed when the teacher deletes the whiteboard session or removes the student from the session. For free users, the session length is limited to 2 hours whereafter the data is automatically deleted. Whiteboard.fi mentions reasonable security measures and stores data within the United States or the European Union, depending on the user's choice. It acknowledges users’ right to to, modifify, or delete personal data. Whiteboard.fi states compliance with the GDPR. See more here.

Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... View details
