PodOmatic

Principal function(s): Autonomous learningAudio recording

PodOmatic allows language teachers and students to browse and find podcasts from users all over the world. By registering for a free account, users can also upload audio or videos to create a podcast and share it on different social media, blogs, websites, etc. Evaluation: PodOmatic is an intuitive platform that offers open access to audio content in different languages published by other users. The quality of the audio may vary and there are no reviews, so it is necessary to check them first to determine whether they are appropriate for a specific group of learners. It is possible to use the PodOmatic online platform but also to download the user-friendly mobile app.

In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... View details
