Tiki-Toki

Principal function(s): Timeline creators

An online app that allows users to create interactive multimedia timelines and share these with others. Images, texts, audio, and videos can be embedded in the timeline and then viewed in 3D. It is a very useful tool for teachers or students who want to highlight the chronological aspects of a particular topic, in a creative, stimulating, and didactic manner. It could be especially useful for teachers who want to ask students to create their own timelines e.g. for group projects. Evaluation: A very user-friendly tool with an intuitive interface.

In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... View details
