Nearpod

Nearpod is a tool to create interactive presentations. It helps educators create presentations containing multimedia content, quizzes, polls, activities, and assessments. These presentations are then shared with students who can access them on their devices and actively participate in real-time, while teachers can see the results and gauge their students’ performance. Also, users can access interactive lessons made available by other users on the platform. Nearpod offers both free and premium plans. Teachers, need to create an account to create and deliver interactive presentations, while students can join sessions using unique codes provided by their teachers. Evaluation: Nearpod is a valuable tool to improve student engagement by creating interactive lessons. Its interface is intuitive and easy to use. It is similar to other tools such as Kahoot or Mentimeter but more tailored for classroom use. It also has an app form. Average IT skills required.

Medium/high. Nearpod collects personal information from teachers when they sign up for an account, but students are not required to provide any personal information or create an account. It collects cookies and shares data with third parties to provide its services for different purposes, among which marketing, but this is deactivated for student accounts. Nearpod appears to take appropriate security measures to safeguard user data. It acknowledges users’ rights to access, change, or delete their personally identifiable information. Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation.
