This website presents a web inventory of online, interactive materials with a search engine filtering tools according to language skills, type of interaction, principal functions, etc. In addition, a MOODLE workspace for learning more about using online tools in the classroom is available.

Plickers

Plickers is a free application which helps the teacher conduct polls or tests with the class, without the need for students to use their own mobile devices. The teacher prepares cards (“paper clickers”) and uses his/her own Android/iOS smartphone or tablet to scan the cards and do instant checks-for-understanding or conduct impromptu polls. The teacher prepares the activity in advance on plickers.com and prints out the cards, which are assigned to each student. The data is automatically saved, student-by-student, at plickers.com, as the cards are scanned. Plickers is particularly useful in a setting where it is not suitable for students to use their own mobile devices in class. Depending on the type of activity planned, if the class has the use of mobile devices, teachers might also consider using Kahoot.

Evaluation: This is an extremely customizable tool which can be used, on both Android and iOS devices, for many different purposes e.g. to obtain feedback, to test students’ knowledge on a specific topic, to create quizzes etc. It allows the whole class to participate in a novel and motivating manner, and the format of the cards means that students can answer the teacher’s questions discretely without their classmates knowing what their answers are.
