Towards a Common European Framework of Reference for language teachers
How do existing tools and publications define and present language teacher competences, and how are these tools used in practice? What could be the added value of a future Common European Framework of Reference for Language Teachers, and what might be its form, content, and function? To answer these questions, this project will develop a comprehensive description of language teacher competences.

Promoting excellence in sign language instruction
This project will develop a professionally-oriented competency framework for sign language teachers and provide B2 level materials and learning activities from different European sign languages. We will also create a European language portfolio (ELP) that takes account of any modality specific requirements for sign languages.

Action research communities for language teachers
The goal of action research communities for language teachers is to contribute towards quality enhancement in the language classroom through the application of action research approaches. This will be achieved by tapping into existing networks with a view to creating new learning communities, which can be replicated across ECML member states.
