Plickers, a testing and voting card creator

Poll and survey creatorsQuiz/exercise makers

Description: Plickers is a classroom response system that uses printed paper cards with unique QR codes to collect and assess student responses. Teachers can ask multiple-choice questions, with students holding up their Plickers cards to indicate their answers. Teacher then scan the cards using a mobile device, and the responses are instantly recorded and displayed. In this way, students do not have to use their mobile devices, differentiating Plickers from other polling tools. It offers a free limited version and requires signing up for an account for creating polls. Plickers was founded by educator Nolan Amy.

Evaluation: Plickers is a valuable tool for teachers to conduct polls or tests in class without students using their smartphones. It can be used to obtain feedback, conduct instant checks for understanding, create quizzes, etc. Plickers allows the whole class to participate in a novel and motivating manner, and the format of the cards means that students can answer the teacher’s questions discretely without their classmates knowing their answers.

Cost: Free with registration + paid options available.
