More than 200 language school professionals from across Europe gathered in Dublin in April 2013 for the European Association for Quality Language Services (EAQUALS) conference. They enjoyed a varied programme of presentations and workshops given by language education and business experts on "Effective Language School Management“.

The presentation given by Aine Furlong, Waterford Institute of Technology, focused on the role of CLIL and plurilingualism in teaching languages and highlighted, among others, the results of the ECML project „CONBAT+ - Content based teaching + Plurilingual / Cultural awareness“ (2008-2011).

The CONBAT+ training kit shows in which way the languages and cultures present in the classroom can be developed as a cross-curricular resource at primary and secondary level. It offers twenty-six content-based didactic units in English, French and Spanish to be used in classrooms. The resources developed assist teachers in creating content-based and plurilingual materials in English, French, and Spanish that can be linked to several subjects of the curriculum; they promote strong links between language teachers and teachers of other disciplines.
