Transversal competences in foreign language education

Untitled Document

ECML think tank

On 8th and 9th February 2022 the ECML will hold a think tank to explore in detail ways in which learners’ transversal competences are being and could be developed in foreign language education alongside their language competences, and how this work is aided through teacher education and professional development. The two-day think tank that will bring together language professionals from ECML member states who are involved in work on transversal competences to explore current practice and develop proposals for supporting the work of teachers and teacher educators on transversal competences in the field of language education. The main aims of the event are to build up an overview of the current ‘state of the art’ in ECML member states, and to develop proposals for guidelines and other resources that will be useful to language educators.

The graphic opposite summarises the main questions that will be explored during the think tank.
