Skribbl

Principal function(s): Game apps

Skribbl is a free online drawing and guessing game to practice your vocabulary and drawing skills. In the game, there is always one player who is in charge of drawing one of the words offered by the server (out of a total of 3). The rest must guess what is being drawn to earn points. The winner is then the player who has the most points at the end of the round. It can be played with up to 12 friends in a private room or with other players in an open session. Evaluation: Skribbl is a very fun game for students to practice vocabulary and develop their creative side. This game also helps them to develop their imagination and their time management skills. The interface is very simple to use and is available in more than 20 languages. The only drawback is that private rooms can only host up to 12 players.

Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... Plus d'info
