Pingo

Principal function(s): Poll and survey creators

Pingo is a tool that allows users to interact with audiences via live polls. Anyone with a can participate in a poll without having to log in by entering an access number. Response display is optimised depending on the device, i.e. they are adaptable to big screens. Users can see or show them in a browser or a PowerPoint presentation. Pingo is free and was developed by the University of Paderborn. Evaluation: Pingo is a valuable tool for creating polls and surveys. Its interface is straightforward both for the creator and other participants. It emphasises user privacy. All in all, it is a handy not-for-profit tool developed by an educational institution. Basic IT skills required.

Very high. Pingo only collects user data and cookies, amongst which IP addresses and browser data, for technical security and web server operations and not other purposes such as marketing or advertising. Moreover, user data is deleted after 30 days. Pingo does not share data with third parties or display advertisement. Its privacy policy could nonetheless elaborate more on security measures. Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation.
