BliuBliu

A language learning platform who shows which words you know/don't know, learns about your current level in the language from those words and finds content with new words in a context that you recognize, so you keep improving all the time. It has around 100 languages. When you choose a language to learn, they give you a level test. For the actual learning, you are presented with a number of categories such as technology, humor, fashion, etc. Using the categories, you find authentic materials such as the lyrics from YouTube music video, a blog post, or a paragraph from a news article. Short texts appear with words you don’t know in red. You can edit which words are unknown to you, and you can hover over all words to get the definition. You can use it without registering, but you need an account if you want to save your progress.

Evaluation: Easy to use and friendly platform for finding resources in your target language. It can be used for building your level of vocabulary or absorbing some of the grammatical structures from just reading and viewing the content. Google Translate is the source for their definitions and it isn’t always reliable, but it helps you understand the meaning of the word without having to stop and consult a dictionary (you can do this later, as you can always save the words that you do not know ).

Cost: Free without registration (registration is needed to save the progress) + Paid premium plans
