Poll Everywhere

Principal function(s): Poll and survey creators

Poll Everywhere is a tool that allows presenters to create interactive polls, quizzes, and surveys for live audiences. Participants can respond to questions using their mobile devices or computers and the results are displayed in real time, and later downloaded. The data can be downloaded. With a free account, users may record up to 25 responses per poll, without including a grading functionality. It requires sign-up both for creators and participants. Poll Everywhere was developed by Jeff Vyduna, Brad Gessler, and Sean Eby. Evaluation: Poll Everywhere is a valuable tool for getting immediate feedback in the classroom, conducting quizzes, and more. These kinds of tools are useful for living up and making in-person teaching more engaging. Poll Everywhere includes many functionalities, but a substantial downside is that it requires sign-up for participants. Basic IT skills required.

In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... View details
