ECML involvement in EU projects
The European Centre for Modern Languages is currently engaged as a full partner or associate partner in the following cooperation projects involving European Union financing.
APLANet

aPLaNet is a new European Union project proposal which aims to help language educators join existing and create their own Personal Learning Network (PLN) on existing social networks. Using a PLN language educators will be able to find their way through the jungle of ICT resources on the net and find language teachers, just like themselves, that will help them use the resources.

The elearningeuropa.info portal is an initiative of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education and Culture, aiming to promote the use of ICT for lifelong learning. It is a mix of activities exploring the relationship of language learning and social media in the web 2.0 era: participatory debates, award-winning competitions, policy recommendations and reports, scientific publications and field studies.

Language Rich Europe
Language Rich Europe is a British Council initiated project which aims to create more socially inclusive and stable societies by equipping key stakeholders with tools to support the development of multilingualism. A new European Languages Index will provide an accessible, and unique overview, highlighting the roles languages play in education, business and broader society and bringing together stakeholders from different disciplines, sectors, age-groups.

magicc
The MAGICC-project deals with transnationally shared learning outcomes, aligned activities, assessment forms and criteria and competence level benchmarks at European level. The project builds on the well-established reference levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Piccolingo

Piccolingo is a European Commission Campaign which aims to link up professional organisations all over Europe dealing with education, family, social, cultural and/or language issues. It disseminates existing content on early foreign language learning created by professionals from all over Europe and supports initiatives promoting early foreign language learning.

QualiRom
QualiRom (Enhancing Romani language education in schools in Europe) is a specialised support activity initiated by the ECML in Graz for the implementation of the Council of Europe’s Curriculum Framework for Romani and two European Language Portfolio (ELP) models for Romani language, developed in co-operation with the European Roma and Travelers Forum (ERTF) and with financial support from Finland.
